01. 노래는 02. 기차는 떠나네 03. 쳐다봐서 미안해요 04. 시인의 밤 05. 우린 참 비슷한 사람 여성 싱어송라이터 양양이 2년 만에 선보이는 세상과 주변, 삶을 관조하는 따뜻한 노랫말과 단아한 멜로디를 담아 고스란히 표현한 최신 EP앨범!! 여성 싱어송라이터 양양(본명: 양윤정)이 2년 만에 EP 앨범 [쓸쓸해서 비슷한 사람]을 발표했다. 세상과 주변, 그리고 삶을 관조하는 따뜻한 노랫말과 멜로디로 자신만의 음악의 길을 여행하던 그녀는 다섯 곡의 노래와, 그와 같은 제목을 가진 글들이 담긴 책을 가지고 돌아왔다. 두 번째 앨범 [사랑의 노래]를 발표한 후 그녀는 조금 다른 방식으로 작업을 해 왔는데, 그것이 바로 글쓰기였다. 그녀의 음악이 회자될 때 항상 가사가 먼저인 것을 보면 그녀의 글쓰기가 영 뜬금없지만은 않은 것 같다. 방식만 다를 뿐 어차피 둘 다 그녀의 마음, 일기장 한 귀퉁이에서 온 것이라고 그녀는 말한다. 기억과 회상, 그리고 일상에의 이야기를 노래와 글로 놓아두고 누가 먼저랄 것도 없는 그것들이 각자의 방식으로 독자와 청자에게 전해지기를 바란다. 이번 EP앨범에 담긴 노래들은 그래서 더 밀도 있고, 그래서 한편으로는 더 궁금하다. 이 앨범에서 양양이 노래한 일상의 단편들은 그 동안 대중 음악계가 스스로 잊었던(혹은 저버린)미덕인 단아한 멜로디와 가사를 고스란히 표현하며 그녀를 모르는 이조차 따뜻하게 다가올 수 있게 한다. 그리고 그녀의 소박하고 자연스러운 음악에 더해진 기타리스트 이상순의 연주와 프로듀싱은 곡들이 가진 질감에 때론 따뜻한, 때론 깊이 있는 색들을 가장 적절하게 더해주고 있다. 언제나 곁에서 그녀를 이끌어 주었던 하림은 이번에도 좋은 연주를 선물해 주었고, 이덕산, 양시온, 박지만, 전호영의 협연은 각각의 파트에서 조화롭게 온기를 더한다. 이번 앨범의 정체성을 대변해 주는 듯한 타이틀곡, 1번 트랙 “노래는”에서 양양은 이 앨범의 시작점과 모티브를 조용히 드러낸다. 혼잣말 같이 흘러가던 것이 뒤에는 기타와 하모니카의 선율과 만나고 결국에는 듣는 사람들의 마음과 하모니를 이루기를 바라는 이 노래는 ‘노래’로 대변되는 우리들 삶의 이야기가 아닐까 한다. 풍성하면서도 따뜻한 편곡이 돋보이는 두 번째 곡 “기차는 떠나네“는 여러 악기들의 소리와 가사가 어우러져 삶의 여정을 함께 여행하는 듯하고, 독특한 내레이션으로 시작되는 “쳐다봐서 미안해요“는 세상 안에 서로 좀 더 가깝게 놓이고자 하는 양양의 작은 시선이 발랄하고 유쾌하게 드러나 있다. 기타와 피아노의 선율 안에서 읊조리듯 흘러가는 “시인의 밤“에서 그녀는 우리 모두가 결국 시인은 아닐까 질문하며, 마지막 곡에서 그녀는 기타와 목소리만 둔 채 이야기한다, “우린 참 비슷한 사람“ 이라고... 노래를 따라 이야기를 듣고 있다 보면 그녀는 진부함 쪽에 있는 사람 같다. 그러나 새로운 것, 더 강하고 자극적인 것이 우후죽순으로 생겨나는 이 세상에서 진부한 것이 실은 우리의 평범한 삶의 모습이 아닐까. 한결같은 진심이 진부함이라면 거기에 계속 머물러있어도 좋지 않을까. 우리가 그녀의 노래에 고개를 끄덕이게 되는 것도 다 그 때문은 아닐까. 노래는 시다. 적어도 한때는 그랬다. 시어가 음률과 만나 세상과 삶, 주변과 사람을 얘기하고, 조용히 그러나 단호하게 자신의 생각과 철학을 향해 걸어가는 의지가 그 안에 있었다. 삶과 주변, 세상을 나지막이 노래하던, 그리고 노래하는 양양의 이번 음악은 그래서 여전히 시다. 양양, 그녀의 음악을 들으면 웃음이 번집니다. 그만큼 행복해서랍니다. 그 웃음, 그 얼굴에 환히 번지는 행복감만큼 우리를 지켜주는 것도 없을 것 같습니다. 그녀의 맑은 노래를 듣고 있으면 곧 사랑에 빠져버릴 것만 같습니다. 그녀의 노래가 사랑스러워서 오늘은 가을 하늘에 대고 크게 한숨을 내쉬었습니다. 그녀를 닮고 싶습니다. - 이병률 (시인, 여행작가) 오랫동안 근척에서 지켜본 양양은 내가 아는 사람 중 가장 열렬히 시집을 사랑하는 사람이며 열렬한 여행중독자이다. 내게 양양이라는 뮤지션의 이미지는 항상 어디서나 책의 페이지를 넘기고 있거나 어딘가로 떠날 계획을 세우고 있는 보헤미안에 가깝다. 책갈피를 사랑하고 여행을 좋아하지 않는 자가 어디 있으리 생각이 들지만 사실 내가 아는 대부분의 사람들은 시집을 별로 읽지 않고 여행을 두려워하거나 미루는 사람들이다. 그리하여 양양은 자연스럽게 누구나 할 수 있는 일들을 누구도 해보지 않는 방식으로 노래하는 법을 익힌 것 같다. 이 음원들을 나는 점자를 만지듯이 만져본다. 소리에 담긴 공기를 냄새를 맡듯이 킁킁거려본다. 그녀가 선율을 올려놓은 풍경의 페이지들이 바람개비처럼 펄럭거린다. 노래하는 자는 자신의 목소리로 누군가에게 여행을 떠나 보낼 수 있다. 가끔 그 목소리 속에서 우리는 길을 잃어도 좋다. - 김경주 [시인, 극작가] |
