Ji Bark(박지웅) 뉴에이지 음악 작곡가이면서 수많은 팝페라 가수들이 탐내는 작곡가. 거기다 할리우드에서 미래를 예의주시하는 영화음악가. 그러면서 그는 직접 연주까지 하는 Player이기도 하다. 한마디로 그를 표현할 길이 없다. 그러한 의미에서 그는 진정 ‘음악가'라 불려질 만하다. 현재 27세. 9살에 미국으로 유학을 떠나 26세에 한국에 다시 돌아온 그는 고국인 한국에서보다 할리우드가 먼저 주시했다. 7살 피아노와 바이올린으로 시작해서 줄리아드음대에 이르기까지 클래식을 공부하다가 버클리음대로 옮기면서 영화음악 작곡을 본격적으로 시작하게 된 그는 탄탄한 클래식음악의 바탕이 있었기에 가능했었던 것인지 얼마 지나지 않아 영화음악가상을 휩쓸며 천재음악가라는 수식어를 달고 할리우드가 주목하는 음악가 반열에 우뚝 섰다. 2000년 제리골드스미스상(최연소, 아시아계최초-수상당시 24세), 2001년 ASCAP 영화음악가상을 휩쓸며 할리우드 영화음악계의 샛별로 등장한 그는 이듬해인 2002년에는 ASCAP영화음악경연대회에 출품한 전곡 6곡이 모두 톱 텐에 들며 그의 지휘아래 할리우드 오케스트라에 의해 연주되기도 했다. 또한 그의 명성을 들은 안드레아 보첼리가 그의 곡을 취입하고 싶다고 요청, 보첼리의 메니지먼트측에서 현재 10여곡을 검토 중에 있다. 할리우드의 새로운 엔리오 모리코네가 탄생했다 - 밥 드레즌(CBS Music President)- 말로 극찬하기에는 부족하다. 그냥 들으면 알 것이다 - 제프리 신들러(할리우드 오케스트라음악감독) 젊은 나이에 상상할 수 없는 뛰어난 테크닉과 완벽한 표현력을 지닌 천재 작곡가이다 (제리 골드 스미스 - 영화음악가-원초적 본능, 빠삐용, 오멘, 스타트랙 등) Ji Bark의 첫 번째 뉴에이지 앨범 “So Sad"가 출시되었다. 전곡을 작곡, 편곡, 연주, 레코딩한 이 앨범은 Piano Concerto부터 Lonely Dairy까지 12Track으로 구성되어 시공간을 넘나드는 독특한 세계로 초대한다. 영상에의 상상력과 선율의 완벽한 조화로움이야 말로 뉴에이지 음악의 지향점이라고 한다면 단정적인 말이 될까? 그러나 확실히 Ji Bark의 뉴에이지는 다르다.
