01. 내게 온 봄 02. 아직은 03. 잠시 멈춤 04. 밤비 05. 모래내 종점 06. 갈 봄 없이, 저 꽃 07. 고개 숙인 수선화 08. 감 09. 청산도 앞바다 10. 연서 11. 겨울밤 12. 눈꽃 편지 13. 봄비가 되어 14. 겨울 산 15. 아들에게 16. 그리운 그대 느릅나무 강 17. 새길 18. 쓸쓸한 저녁 *TITLE 삶의 시, 삶의 노래 2집 <모래내 종점> 시는 음악의 정신이고 악곡은 음악의 신체다. 음악의 가사를 시라 하고, 시에 곡이 붙여진 것을 노래라 한다. 중국 남북조 시대 양(梁)나라의 유협이 지은 문학이론서 '문심조룡'에 나오는 말이다. 1500년 전에도 음악의 가사를 시라고 하고 시에 곡조를 붙인 것을 노래라 하였으니 시와 노래는 일란성 쌍둥이처럼 태생이 같음을 짐작케 하는 대목이다. 일상의 감동을 글로 적은 것이 시라면 그것에 곡을 붙인 것이 노래다. 이러한 시의 원형, 노래의 원형을 찾아 음악인과 시인이 의기투합하였다. 시노래마을 이야기다. '시'와 '노래'의 만남과 그를 통한 문화적 소통과 확산에 뜻을 두고 전국 학교, 도서관, 문학관 등에서 시인 초청 콘서트 및 시노래 콘서트를 열어 오고 있는 단체다. 특히 2014년부터 매월 진행하는 '일상의 인문학 콘서트', '수요 시 콘서트' 등에는 신경림, 유안진, 천양희, 신달자, 나태주, 정희성, 이상국, 정호승, 안도현, 문태준 등 문단의 유수한 시인들이 다녀갔다. 그러는 동안 수백여 편이 시가 노래가 되었고 그것을 담아낸 것이 바로 이 음반이다. 2016년 <삶의 시, 삶의 노래> 1집 '김포행 막차' 이후로 6년 만에 선보이는 2집 <모래내 종점>에는 삶의 실감이 담긴 시 18편이 노래가 되어 실려 있다. 1집 음반에 수록된 '김포행 막차', '아비', '홍시', '바닷가 벤치', '능소화 사랑' 등의 노래가 그동안 시인들과 시 애호가들에게 많은 사랑을 받아 왔던 터라 이번 음반에도 이목이 집중되고 있다. 타이틀인 '모래내 종점'은 1998년 발표된 『오래된 골목』이라는 시집에 실려 있다. 천양희 시인의 이야기를 빌리면, 당시 모래내에 살 때 시인은 막차가 종점에 들어오는 모습을 보려고 부러 버스 종점에 가고는 했다고 한다. 피곤에 절어 버스 손잡이에 의지해 돌아오는 사람들의 모습이 마치 버스에 끌려오는 것처럼 느껴지기도 했고 미끄러운 세상을 기어오르다가 돌아오는 것 같기도 하여 쓴 시가 '모래내 종점'이라고 한다. 2014년에 천양희 시인 초청 콘서트를 할 당시 작곡한 노래가 8년 만에 이 음반의 타이틀곡이 되었다. 각자의 살아가는 지역도 방식도 성별도 연령도 모두 다르지만 그때 모래내 버스 종점에서 내렸던 이들의 모습이 지금 우리의 모습과 별반 다르지 않기 때문이다. '삶의 시, 삶의 노래'라는 제목에서 연상되는 이미지처럼 우리 삶의 실감이 담긴 순간들을 포착해낸 시들이 노래로 작곡되어 실린 음반이기에 더욱 그렇다. 삶의 여러 장면들을 18명의 시인들이 서로 다른 언어로 풀어냈고 또 그것을 다양한 장르의 노래로 작곡하여 한 음반에 묶었어도 전혀 이상하지 않은 이유가 바로 여기에 있다. 모두 우리 삶의 이야기이기 때문이다. 코로나로 모든 것이 멈춰버린 세상에 대한 안타까움을 노래한 시도 있다. '잠시 멈춤'은 여성 정훈장교 1기로서 중령 예편 후 시인으로 등단한 독특한 이력의 이서인 시인의 시다. “밥 한 끼 먹자는 게 실례인 세상, 술 한 잔 권하는 게 부담인 세상”이라는 구절이 코로나가 훑고 지나간 우리 시대의 단절을 잘 보여주고 있다. 이뿐 아니라 음반을 열면 내 이야기 같은 장면들이 펼쳐진다. 혼자 남은 저녁의 허전함을 노래한 '쓸쓸한 저녁'이나 사랑하는 임에게 한마디도 못 붙이고 혼자 끙끙 앓던 젊은 시절의 짝사랑을 담은 '연서', 불어오는 외압에도 굴하지 않고 바른길을 걷겠노라는 다짐이 담긴 '감', 내리는 눈을 보며 먼저 떠나보낸 임을 그리워하는 '눈꽃 편지', 또 아직 먼 미래지만 2047년 혼자 남을 아들에게 미리 보내는 엄마의 모정을 담은 '아들에게', 메마른 무덤을 적시는 봄비처럼 그리운 어머니께 가닿고 싶은 마음을 노래한 사모곡 '봄비가 되어', 봄이 오는 들판을 호젓이 걷고 싶게 만드는 '내게 온 봄' 등이 그렇고, 또 흉흉한 이야기가 하루가 멀다 하고 뉴스에 나오지만 아직은 따뜻한 마음들이 있어 살 만한 세상임을 노래한 '아직은', 봄에 제비꽃 피고 가을에 구절초 피듯 호젓한 마음의 눈으로 덤덤하게 생을 바라보는 '갈 봄 없이, 저 꽃', 사랑하는 임과 함께 더 늦기 전에 바다로 떠나가자는 '청산도 앞바다', 먼저 떠난 남편을 그리워하는 애틋함을 비에 담은 '밤비' 등이 그렇다. 또 초등학교 때 돌아가신 아버지가 들려주던 그 강(江)을 성인이 되어 찾아간 소회를 담은 '그리운 그대 느릅나무 강', 고향에 대한 그리움과 애틋함을 담은 '겨울밤', 자라는 자녀에게 인생의 겨울이 지나면 봄은 반드시 옴을 들려주는 듯한 '겨울 산' 등이 그렇다. 한 편 한 편 공감이 가지 않는 시가 없다. 사랑하는 누군가를 기다려본 사람이라면 스치는 바람 소리에 뒤돌아보거나 갓 피어난 예쁜 꽃을 혼자만 보아야 하는 상황이 안타까웠던 기억이 있기 마련이다. '고개 숙인 수선화'에 등장하는 이 구절이 이해된다면 이 음반의 처음과 끝을 다 알았다고 해도 과언이 아닐 듯하다.
