Pack Up 지난 몇 년동안 다수의 싱글과 EP를 발표해왔던 오닐이 그의 첫 정규앨범을 발매했다. 이번 앨범에서 그는 프로듀싱, 랩, 디제잉 스크래치, 믹싱, 마스터링, 아트워크까지 본인이 직접 함으로서 모든 과정이 그의 손을 거쳐 완성되었다. 각 분야에서 잘하는 사람들과의 콜라보를 통해 앨범의 완성도를 높일 수 도 있지만 이번 앨범의 취지는 부족할 수 있더라도 인디펜던트 아티스트로서 처음부터 끝까지 온전히 자신의 힘으로 앨범을 완성해보고자함이고 이에 따라 앨범제목은 [Cabin]이 되었다. 대중들이 잘 알지 못하는 아티스트이지만 묵묵히 혼자 작업하는 모습을 외딴섬에 홀로 자신의 삶을 살아가는 모습에 빗대어 모든 음악 작업이 진행되는 그의 작업실은 사람들이 잘 알지 못하는 초라한 오두막으로 표현되었다. 이번 앨범에는 그가 2020년을 맞이하며 겪었던 것들을 포함하여 여태까지 그가 걸어왔던 길을 되돌아보며 느꼈던 생각과 감정을 담았다. ‘기쁨’, ‘슬픔’, ‘외로움’, ‘그리움’ 등 다양한 감정들이 각 트랙에 나뉘어 담겨있다. 앨범의 인트로인 1번 트랙 ‘Snooze’ 부터 마지막 아웃트로 트랙인 ‘Pack Up’ 까지 순서대로 감상하다보면 한 트랙씩 넘어갈때마다 그의 이야기가 전개됨에 따라 그의 감정의 변화를 느낄 수 있다. 앨범 참여진으로는 ‘Jaedal’, ‘Deepflow’, ‘oceanfromtheblue’, ‘DAMYE’, ‘Henmi’ 까지 총 다섯 명의 아티스트들이 함께하여 앨범의 완성도를 높여 주었다. |
