DAY6 유닛 Even of Day가 8월 31일 'The Book of Us : Gluon - Nothing can tear us apart'를 발매한다.
모든 순간을 노래하며 리스너들의 일상을 음악으로 물들인 DAY6가 데뷔 5년 만에 첫 유닛을 결성했다.
Young K, 원필, 도운 3인으로 구성된 이번 유닛은 2020년 8월의 마지막 날 31일 신곡을 발표하고 정식 데뷔한다.
DAY6 (Even of Day)는 JYP엔터테인먼트 수장 박진영이 직접 지은 그룹명이다.
박진영은 '밤'을 의미하는 영어 고어 'even'에서 착안해, 'even' 이후 'day'가 다가온다는 의미를 유닛 이름에 녹였다.
깊고 어두운 밤을 건너 마침내 밝은 날을 마주할 것이라는 메시지와 함께 마음에 와닿는 음악을 노래하겠다는 포부를 실었다.
'The Book of Us : Gluon - Nothing can tear us apart'는 물리학 명칭 'Gluon'을 차용해 만든 앨범. 강한 상호작용을 매개하는 입자라는 'Gluon'의 의미에서 시작해 거부할 수 없는 강력한 이끌림을 노래로 표현한다.
또 부제 'Nothing can tear us apart'를 더해 "가장 강한 힘으로 우리는 뭉쳐져 있다"라는 뭉클한 진심을 말한다.
타이틀곡 '파도가 끝나는 곳까지'는 인생이라는 배를 타고 세상이라는 바다 위에서 희로애락의 파도가 끝날 때까지 함께 있어주길 바라는 마음을 드러낸 곡이다.
"다가오는 거친 파도를 견뎌 줘 어둠 속에서도 내 손을 놓지 말아 줘 비바람이 그칠 때까지 손을 놓지 말고 곁에 남아 줘 고요함 속에 아침이 올 땐 꿈만 같을 거니까"와 같은 가사로 거친 풍파도 함께 겪어 가자는 굳은 결심을 전한다.
그간의 DAY6 앨범과 달리 DAY6 (Even of Day)는 신보에 'Intro', 'Interlude', 'Outro' 트랙을 담아 변모를 꾀했다.
