Propeller 초판/엔티움 2008.7.17 : MLCD0238,8809168201883 국내 퓨전 재즈계의 차세대 주자 Main Street 10대 취향의 획일화된 국내 음악 시장에서 재즈라는 비주류 분야를 쉼 없이 견지해온다는 것은 참으로 어려운 일이다. 그래서 일부 재즈 뮤지션들은 자족적인 활동에 머물며 그들만의 리그를 벗어나지 못하는 것이 현실이다. 하지만 여기, 대중과의 소통을 꿈꾸는 재즈계의 중심 밴드가 있다. 바로 메인 스트릿(Main Street)!! 단어의 의미만을 살펴보자면 단순히 소도시의 중심가를 의미하지만, 자신들의 음악이 복잡하고 거대한 대도시의 차가운 주류가 아닌 조금은 작지만 따뜻하고 편안한 휴식 같은 길, 사람들이 있고, 이야기가 있는 그런 활기찬 중심가 같은 음악이길 바라며 그들은 오늘도 세상과의 다정한 만남을 꿈꾸고 있다. 거칠고 즉흥적인 재즈의 본연을 살리면서도 동시에, 오랜 시간 호흡을 맞춰온 팀워크를 통해 자칫 놓치기 쉬운 세밀한 연주와 완성도 높은 프레이징, 편곡의 묘미까지 잼 재즈의 한계를 극복하고 있는 메인 스트리트(Main Street)는 드러머 서준혁, 피아니스트 양태경을 중심으로 결성된 5인조 밴드로 ‘맛있는 재즈 delicious jazz’라는 슬로건을 걸고, 어렵고 고압적으로만 느껴지는 재즈의 두꺼운 가면을 벗어 던진 채 청초한 얼굴로 우리 곁에 다가서고 있다. 또한 Smooth, Brazilian, ECM, Fusion, Funk 등 다양한 음악적 장르를 그들만의 실험적인 재해석과 흡입력 있는 팀 사운드로 구현하며 점점 그들의 영역을 넓혀나가고도 있다. 유려한 멜로디와 진보적인 화성 진행, 독창적 리듬은 이미 국내 재즈 마니아들과 평단으로부터 뜨거운 찬사를 받고 있으며, Contemporary Fusion Jazz계 독보적인 차세대 주자로 자리매김 하고 있다. 서정과 이성의 절묘한 조화가 돋보이는 앨범 “Babyback Lips” 2007년 발표한 첫 번째 정규앨범 ‘Children’s park’에 실린 9곡은 멤버들 모두의 창작곡으로, 음악에 대한 그들의 실험적인 자세와 진지함이 가득하다. 스탠더드 곡 일색의 국내 재즈 풍토에서 자작곡만으로 음악 활동을 이어가는 이들의 행보는 좀 더 발전적이고 수준 높은 재즈에 목말라 하는 대중의 갈증을 확실히 풀어주고 있다. 메인 스트리트(Main Street)의 음악을 들어보면 ‘맛있는 재즈(delicious jazz)’라는 모토에 걸맞게 부드럽고 매끄러운 리듬이 서정적이다. 하지만 편곡된 스타일은 차분하고 신중하며 매우 스마트하다. 작/편곡은 물론 믹싱과 프로듀싱까지 맡고 있는 드러머 서준혁의 이성과 이미 국내의 유명 가수들의 특급세션으로 인정받고 있는 실력파 연주가 이종현과 양태경, 그리고 신예 조후찬과 주현우 등, 모두 5명 멤버들의 감성이 어우러진 결과라 하겠다. 이러한 그들이 만들어 놓은 2집 앨범은 앨범 타이틀과 동명의 곡 ‘Babyback Rips’를 통해 메인스트리트(Main Street)의 모토이자 칼라인 ‘맛있는 재즈’를 재미있는 리듬을 통해 선보이고 있다. 독창적인 드럼 그루브로 시작되는 이 곡은 베이스와 피아노의 안정되고 즐거운 리듬 위를 날아다니고 있는 색소폰과 기타솔로가 두드러지는 곡이다. ‘오후 풍경’은 브라질리언 스타일의 삼바리듬을 살린 곡으로 오랫동안 브라질 음악을 공부해온 드러머 서준혁의 퍼커션(판데이로pandeiro, 탐보림tamborim) 연주가 돋보이는 인트로를 토대로 아름다운 멜로디와 기분 좋은 리듬에 때묻지 않은 기타리스트 이종현의 목소리가 입혀져 한층 더 밝은 곡으로 만들고 있다. 이 외에도 포르투갈어로 ‘즐거운 여행’이라는 뜻의 ‘Boa Viagem’은 또 다른 브라질리언 스타일의 곡이지만, 이 곡도 역시 라틴적인 느낌을 쉽게 느낄 수 있는 포어(Portuguese) 대신 우리나라 가사를 통해 음악을 표현하고 있다. 이는 브라질음악이 좀 더 한국에서 대중화 되기를 바라는 멤버들의 마음이 담긴 곡으로 브라질 리듬인 Partido alto리듬을 가미해 난해할 수 있는 리듬을 멋진 그루브를 통해 듣는이의 귀를 편안하게 해주는 친절함을 느낄 수 있게 해주는 또 하나의 팀 칼라를 알 수 있는 곡이다. 이 곡 또한 드러머 서준혁의 판데이로 연주와 기타리스트 이종현의 깔끔한 나일론 기타 연주, 그리고 맑은 그의 목소리를 감상할 수 있다. 메인 스트리트의 또다른 실력을 볼 수 있는 곡들은 앨범에 몇몇 더 있다. ‘Pathetique’는 베토벤의 ‘비창’ 3악장을 4분의 5박자의 컨템포러리한 재즈스타일로 편곡하여 원곡에 뒤지지 않는 뛰어난 감각을 느낄 수 있는 곡으로 마지막 부분의 드럼 솔로가 압권이라 할 수 있다. 또한 미국의 유명 작가 Emily Dickinson(에밀리 디킨슨)의 시 ‘Hope is The Thing with Feathers(희망은 날개를 가지고 있는 것)’를 가사로 해, 멜로디를 붙여 만든 시와 동명의 곡 ‘Hope Is The Thing With Feathers’는 이들의 특기인 6/8박자에 우장한 코러스가 어우러지고, 색소폰 솔로와 멋진 베이스가 힘을 더해 시에 또 다른 생명을 불어넣고 있다. 그리고 피아니스트 양태경의 매끈하고 멋진 피아노 솔로를 감상할 수 있는 스무드 재즈 스타일의 곡 ‘Sunny Days’를 통해 우리는 ‘메인스트릿(Main Street)은 기분 좋고 맛있는 음악을 하는 팀이다’라는 말을 저절로 떠올리게 된다. 이 외에도 ‘Blue Note’, ‘Got Soul’, ‘Propella’등을 통해 복잡하고 어려운 박자를 편안하고 재미있게 들려주는 메인스트릿(Main Street)의 마법을 다시 한 번 느낄 수 있을 것이다. -멤버별 Profile- 서준혁(Drums) : * L.A.M.A. Drum Department 졸업 * 세븐/빅마마/휘성/거미 합동 콘서트 세션 * 자전거탄 풍경, 나무자전거, 노찾사, 새벽, 김정민, 마야, 오락실, 소리꾼 김 용우 외 다수 라이브 및 녹음 세션 * 現 여주대 출강 이종현(Guitars) : * 단국대 물리학과, 재즈 아카데미 기타과 1기 졸업 * 박혜경, 유열, 테이, 휘성, 거미, 빅마마, 언티드, 인순이 외 다수 세션 * 이은미 밴드, 퓨전그룹 ‘모이다’, Jazz/Funk 밴드 ‘BNR’ 활동 양태경(Piano) : * 오스트레일리아 Brighton Music Scool 졸업 * University of Adelaide Jazz Piano Foundation Course 수료 * 뮤지컬 락햄릿, 김원주, 이기찬, 장철웅, 장연주, VOS, 마이앤트메리, 김장훈 ,심태윤, 색소포니스트 구기성, CCM그룹 ‘열매’ 외 다수 라이브 및 녹음 세션 * 시골버스, 송용진 밴드, 천관웅 밴드 활동 * 現 한국예술고등학교 출강 조우찬(Bass) : * 서울예술대학 실용음악과 졸업 * 손호영, 윤수일, 오한나 외 다수 라이브 및 녹음 세션 * 천년동안도, 에반스 등 클럽 연주 다수 주현우(Saxophone) : * 서울예술대학 실용음악과 졸업 * 박화요비, 이한철, Heritage, 박동화 외 다수 라이브 및 녹음세션 * 영화 ‘색즉시공 2’ OST 참여 * Kio밴드(장기호) 클럽 연주 및 녹음 세션 * 천년동안도, 올댓재즈, 에반스 등 클럽연주 다수 |

We accept return(s) if :- you receive a product different from your order OR - you receive a defective product.
[ Return Instructions ] ① Post a return request on our Return forum within three days of receipt. You are required to attach the photos of the received product(s) and include the item code, the order number, and the reason for the return. ② A customer service representative will be in contact to assist you by email or phone. ③ Items returned must be in their original condition, which includes tags and any packaging. Also, you need to include a note of your order number, name, and user ID.
