Fuga - Allegro moderato 2015 차이코프스키 콩쿠르 피아노 부문 입상! 정통 클래식 계의 이단아, 독학으로 피아노를 공부한 괴짜 피아니스트, Lucas Debargue 뤼카 드바르그 2017년 겨울 새 앨범 올 겨울 당신의 마음을 따뜻하게 감싸줄 새 앨범 Schubert, Szymanowski (슈베르트와 시마노프스키) 차별화된 연주로 듣는 슈베르트 & 시마노프스키의 아름다운 피아노 소나타 뤼카 드바르그는 2015년에 열린 차이코프스키 콩쿠르 피아노 부문 파이널리스트 중 아마 가장 특이한 이력을 가지고 있을 것이다. 그는 11살에 귀로 들은 소리를 친구의 피아노로 연주하기 시작했고, 문학 학위를 위한 공부를 시작하며 17살에 피아노를 그만두고 파리의 슈퍼마켓에서 일하게 되었다. 그 후 진전이 없다가 그의 고향에서 초대를 받아 지역 축제에서 연주를 하기로 하며 다시 피아노 앞에 앉게 되었고, 훌륭한 연주 덕에 파리에 있는 속성 러시안 피아노 코치를 소개받게 된다. 코치와 4년간 피아노를 공부한 후 그는 차이코프스키 콩쿠르 파이널에 오르게 된 것이다. 믿기 어려운 일이지만 모두 사실이다. 뤼카는 클래식 음악을 계속 공부하기 위해 재즈 클럽에서 8시간 동안 재즈 연주를 하며 아르바이트를 했고, 재즈로 연마한 그의 운지법이 꽤 기이하고 독특한 나머지 한 저명한 러시아 피아노 교수는 차이코프스키 파이널 무대에서 ‘제대로 교육 받지도 못한 사람이 연주하는 걸 듣고 있을 수가 없다’며 큰 소리로 외치고는 그 자리를 박차고 나가기도 했다고 한다. 그러나 대부분의 시간을 재즈 클럽에서 연주하고, 많은 피아노 작품들을 그저 다른 이의 레코딩을 통해 귀로만 듣고 배우는 뤼카 드바르그의 개성 있고 섬세한 연주는 듣는 이를 사로잡는다. 이번 앨범에서 뤼카는 프란츠 슈베르트의 피아노 소나타 2곡과 카롤 시마노프스키의 <피아노 소나타 2번>을 묶었다. 비교적 자주 연주되는 후기 소나타가 아닌 어딘가 어정쩡하게 걸쳐 있는 소나타들을 고른 것이다. 게다가 시마노프스키의 음악은 1990년대에 들어서야 재조명 받고 있다. 고전이 되풀이하며 연주되는 시기에 드바르그는 용감하면서도 무모한 레퍼토리를 골랐다. 그는 세월에 잊힌 작품들 속에서 우리는 새로운 고전을 찾아내야만 하며 그곳에서도 얼마든지 들을 것이 많다는 것을 깨달아야 하고, 또 이 앨범에 수록된 작품들이 그런 작품이라고 믿는다. 뤼카 드바르그는 카롤 시마노프스키와 프란츠 슈베르트라는 아무 공통점 없는 작곡가의 음악에서 무엇을 발견한 것일까? 이 두 작곡가는 외로움에서 시작했다. 말수가 적지 않았던 슈베르트는 “난 종종 이 세계에 속한 사람이 아닌 것 같은 느낌을 받아”라고 이야기 했다. 시마노프스키는 무언가 병약해 보인다는 점에서 선배 작곡가인 쇼팽을 닮았으나, 재능을 아낌없이 펼쳐냈던 쇼팽과는 달리 이 후배 작곡가 태어난 시기는 여러모로 혼란스러웠음으로 그 역시 예민한 감성과 지성, 슬픔을 생에 끝까지 지니고 갔다. 추워지는 계절과 닮은 두 작곡가의 곡을 더없이 멋진 원석이 연주하는 것을 들으며, 우리는 이 피아니스트가 앞으로 어떤 멋진 변화를 겪게 될지 저절로 기대하게 된다. |
