01. 엄마 (이광조 & 전준한) 02. 괜찮다 (Accustic Ver.) 03. 참 좋다 04. 사랑이란 05. 빈 가슴 하나로 06. 나의 당신 07. 사랑인거죠 (Radio Ver.) 08. 엄마 (Solo Ver.) 09. 괜찮다 (Band Ver.) 2016년 이광조의 정규앨범 [엄마] 디지털 싱글 발표가 마치 대세 인 듯한 한국의 가요 시장에서 9Track을 싣는 경우는 참으로 반가운 일이 아닐까 한다. “디지털 음원 스트리밍 시대인 세상이 온 것은 맞는 것 같아요. 한 곡일지라도 정성을 다해서 발표들을 하지만 여러 곡이 담긴 정규 앨범을 순서대로 듣다 보면 하나의 시가 아닌 한편의 수필집을 만나는 느낌이 아닐까 합니다.“ 라는 가수의 말에 고집스러움과 정감이 묻어난다. 이번 앨범의 접근은 따뜻한 어쿠스틱! “자연의 느낌을 말하다”이다. 다락방에서 옹기종기 모여 소꿉놀이 하 듯 때로는 안개 낀 강변 모닥불 가에서 과거와 현실 그리고 앞으로의 삶을 편안함으로 대화하는 친구들의 모습을 들여다 볼 수 있다. 앨범의 많은 곡을 함께한 작사, 작곡가 박호명은 이번 앨범에도 다시 수록된 “사랑인거죠”를 만들어 인연을 맺게 되었다. “이번 앨범의 곡을 준비하면서 이광조 선배님께서 많이 지도를 해주셨다”면서 겸손함을 표현한다. “그 동안 이광조 선배님이 발표하셨던 곡들보다 더 많이 비울 수 있는 앨범을 구상하신다 하셔서 고민이 많았습니다.“ 정성이 얼마나 담긴 곡들인지 충분히 알 수 있는 말이었다. 앨범 타이틀인 “엄마”는 솔로와 듀엣, 두 가지 버전으로 담겨있다. 성악가 바리톤 전준한이 함께 함으로 인해 곡과 가사의 전달력에 커다란 힘이 배어 나온다. 성악가와 대중가수의 만남으로 좋은 결과를 만나기란 쉽지 않은데 오랜만에 완성도 있는 듀엣의 조합을 듣게 되어 기쁘다. 상고머리, 동구 밖. 당산나무 등... 어릴 적 향수를 물씬 느낄 수 있는 가사들은 엄마 아빠가 된 중,장년들의 마음을 고향으로 안내를 하고 있다. 어쩌면 디지털 시대에 아날로그를 잊지 말자는 작곡가의 의도가 숨어있어 보인다. 두 번째 트랙 “괜찮다(Acoustic Ver.)”는 매일 매일 반복되는 일상에 가끔은 인생의 중심을 잃을 때가 있다. 어쩌면 시대가 삶을 바꿨는지도 모르겠다. 지금껏 쌓여있던 묵은 짐을 읊조리듯 털어 내뿜는 “괜찮아~~”부분은 지친 우리 모두의 어깨를 토닥여주는 느낌이 물씬 전해온다. 체념의 경지를 뛰어 넘어 그래도 힘을 내어 넉넉한 웃음을 갖고 살아보자는 마음이 드는 따듯한 곡이 아닐 수 없다. 세 번째 트랙 “참 좋다”는 제목에서부터 다가오는 어떤 상황이 되었든 세상은 내가 있어 네가 있어 또 우리가 있어 행복하고 참 좋다는 곡으로 해석이 된다. 흥겨운 라틴 리듬 위에 목소리가 파도를 타듯 이광조 특유의 창법은 “즐거운 인생” “무늬맘보” 이후 다시금 느껴보는 흥겨움에 빠지게 한다. 곡 전반에 깔려있는 원주민의 외침소리 “우~! 아~!”는 흥겨움을 배가시키기에 충분한 아이디어 이다. “사랑이란” 이 곡은 젊은 가수들이 들려주는 멜로디를 담고 있다. 어쩌면 이 곡이 2,30대 팬들에게 어필이 되어 이광조가 있음을 더욱 알릴 수 있는 곡이 아닐까 한다. 전반적으로 사랑을 가슴앓이 하고 있는 주인공의 하고픈 말을 대변하듯 덤덤한 목소리는 영화의 한 장면을 떠오르게 한다. 진정 인생을 살면서 추상적으로 “나도 사랑을 한다, 했다”가 아닌 진정한 사랑을 몸으로 느끼고 경험한 사람들이 부러울 따름이다. 지나친 관심과 욕심이 행여 사랑이라 말할 수는 없으리라. “빈 가슴 하나로” 이 곡은 이전에 발표됐던 곡으로 다시 부르고 발표하기를 지속적으로 할 정도로 가수 이광조의 애정이 담긴 곡이다. 프랑스의 저녁 테라스의 빗방울 떨어지는... 아니면 안개 낀 미국의 금문교 아래를 지나는 커다란 배의 굵직하면서도 가슴을 요동치게 하는 뱃고동 소리가 들리는 듯하다. 이광조의 수많은 발표 곡 가운데 “이광조스럽다”는 곡을 꼽으라면 이 곡이 당연히 상위권에 들어갈 것이다. “나의 당신” 처음 이 곡을 들으면서 흑백영화가 떠오르는 이유를 생각해보니 청춘시리즈 흑백영화가 흥행했던 시절의 멜로디와 흡사해서였다. 행여 카피는 아닐까 싶어 여기 저기 찾아보았지만 같은 곡은 없었다. 결과적으로 중,장년층의 사랑을 독차지하기에 충분한 곡으로 판단된다. 어쩌면 매끄러운 멜로디 때문이더라도 색소폰 연주가들이나 노래를 좋아하는 어머니들에게 큰 사랑을 받을만한 곡으로 보인다. 일곱번째 트랙 “사랑인거죠” 이 곡은 지난 앨범에 수록된 곡으로 아쉬움이 많이 남아 다시 녹음을 하였다. “사랑이란”의 곡과 같이 2,30대의 반향이 기대되는 곡이다. 떠난 사람을 그리워하며 그것이 미처 알지 못한 사랑이었다는 것을 회상 하는 담담하면서도 애절함이 배어있는 곡이다. “엄마(Solo Ver.)” 이 곡은 성악가와 부른 듀엣 곡의 느낌이 오케스트라고 한다면 솔로 버전은 실내악 앙상블이 아닐까 한다. 보다 가까이 귓속에 속삭이는 이광조의 목소리는 엄마를 향한 그리움에 더욱 눈물이 나게 한다. 간주부분 소의 울음소리는 마치 엄마를 애타게 찾으며 외치는, 길 잃은 아이의 울부짖음과도 같다. 도입부의 기적소리 나는 기차를 타고 엄마를 보러 가고 싶어지게 한다. 마지막 곡 “괜찮다(Band Ver.)”는 편곡자 변성용의 재해석으로 어쿠스틱 버전과 또 다른 감성으로 더 깊은 가수의 목소리를 느낄 수 있다. “지금까지 그래왔었지만 보다 적극적으로 제가 지니고 있는 재능을 사람들과 함께 나누고 싶고 또 제가 갖지 못한 재능을 나누어 받고 싶은 것이 앞으로의 희망이고 실천이라고 생각합니다.“ 라는 이광조의 말이 잊혀 지질 않는다. 앨범 “엄마”의 사랑이 많은 사람들과 함께하기를 응원해본다. |
