Prelude 18 Olivier Messiaen: Le Merle Noir (from Petites Esquisses d’Oiseaux) 피아니스트 김주상의 첫 솔로 앨범 Mosaic은 서로 다른 시대와 양식, 정서를 지닌 작품들을 하나의 ‘모자이크’처럼 엮어낸 독창적인 피아노 앨범이다. 바흐에서 메시앙까지 이어지는 다채로운 선율들은, 마치 색과 질감이 다른 조각들이 모여 하나의 예술 작품을 이루듯, 각기 다른 정서와 미학이 한데 어우러진 ‘음의 회화’를 완성한다. 앨범의 문을 여는 바흐의〈프렐류드와 푸가 BWV 854〉는 단아하면서도 목가적인 분위기를 지닌 작품으로, 명료한 구조와 균형감 속에서 음악적 서정이 자연스럽게 흘러나온다. 이어지는 쇼팽의 〈혁명〉 연습곡 Op.10 No.12는 폴란드의 비극과 피아니스트의 내면적 열정을 동시에 담아낸 격정적인 작품으로, 김주상의 탄탄한 터치와 폭발적인 에너지를 느낄 수 있다. 모차르트의 〈피아노 소나타 A단조 KV 310〉는 어머니의 죽음을 배경으로 한 내면적 슬픔이 녹아든 곡으로, 세 악장 모두 비극성과 인간적 절실함이 깊이 스며 있다. 이후 연주되는 그리그의〈피아노 소나타 E단조〉는 노르웨이 민속 선율의 낭만적 정서를 품은 작품으로, 신선한 에너지와 따뜻한 서정이 공존한다. 프로코피예프의〈피아노 소품집 작품번호 12〉는 행진곡, 가보트, 리가우동 등 고전적 무곡 형식을 재해석한 곡들로 구성되어 있으며, 리듬적 생동감과 화려한 색채가 돋보인다. 마지막을 장식하는 메시앙의 〈검은 새〉(Le Merle Noir)는 뵈젠도르퍼 피아노의 저음역 확장음을 활용한 독특한 공명과 신비로운 음향을 통해 현대 피아노 음악의 새로운 가능성을 제시한다. ‘Mosaic’는 바로 이러한 음악적 다양성과 통일성의 조화를 통해, 한 명의 연주자가 그려내는 시대와 양식의 스펙트럼을 보여주는 음반이다. 김주상은 이 앨범을 통해 음악의 역사적 흐름 속에서 ‘현재의 자신’을 투영하며, 각각의 작품 속에 내재된 인간적 감정과 정신을 섬세하게 직조해낸다. |
