Vif 피아니스트 조성진이 <헨델 프로젝트>(2023) 이후 2년 만에 프랑스 인상주의 대표 작곡가 라벨의 작품으로 돌아온다. 조성진이 한 작곡가의 전곡집을 선보이는 것은 이번이 처음으로 라벨에 대한 깊이 있는 탐구와 해석이 담겨있다. 본 앨범은 이번 라벨 녹음 중 먼저 공개되는 피아노 독주곡집으로 ‘밤의 가스파르’, ‘쿠프랭의 무덤’, ‘거울’, ‘죽은 왕녀를 위한 파반느’, ‘물의 유희’ 등이 수록되어 라벨 솔로 피아노 레퍼토리의 음악적 면모를 충실하게 들려준다. 라벨 작품의 특별하고 독특한 사운드는 조성진에게 기술적, 표현적으로 이상적인 분출구를 제공한다. 또한 “항상 라벨 음악의 다양한 아이디어와 색채, 감정에 매료되어왔다”라는 조성진의 말처럼 라벨에 대한 존경심과 각별한 애정을 느낄 수 있는 앨범이다. 2025년은 조성진의 쇼팽 콩쿠르 우승 및 도이치 그라모폰에서 앨범을 발매한지 10주년이 되는 해라 더욱 뜻깊은 발매이다. |
