친구는 가려서 사귀어라. 어릴 적부터 많이 들어온 말이다. 검은색을 가까이하면 검어지고, 붉은색을 가까이하면 붉어지니, 까마귀는 까마귀끼리 백로는 백로끼리 어울리라 하였다. 문제는 한 종류의 깃털을 가진 새들끼리 모아놓았더니, 자기 깃털 색이 진리인 줄 안다는 것이다. 내 깃털 색이 다른 깃털 색보다 우월하고, 더 아름답고 옳은 줄 안다. 따지고 보면 세상은 검정색과 흰색으로 명확하게 구분되지 않는다. 우리는 다들 조금씩 하얗고 검으며, 좀 더 하얗고 좀 더 검다고 해서 정상과 비정상으로 나눌 수도 없다. 그런데도 무지에서 비롯된 편견은 상대를 제대로 알 생각을 하지도 않은 채 낙인을 찍는다. 저 사람은 검다고, 저 사람은 틀렸다고. 나와 그들을 구분한다. 나는 이 드라마가 서로의 다른 깃털 색이 함께 어울려 노는 데 걸림돌이 되지 않음을 보여주는 드라마가 되길 바란다. 차별하고 혐오하는 게 아니라, 공감하고 이해하는 세상이 되길 바란다. 그런 세상에선 까마귀와 백로도 편견 없이 서로를 사랑할 것이다.
