Skrting On The Surface THE SMILE "A Light For Attracting Attention" 톰 요크, 조니 그린우드, 톰 스키너의 새로운 프로젝트 밴드 더 스마일 데뷔 앨범 5월 13일 디지털, 6월 17일 피지컬 앨범 발매 예정 초도 한정 포스터 증정 / 국내반 한국 보너스 트랙 삽입 라디오헤드(Radiohead)의 톰 요크(Thom Yorke), 조니 그린우드(Jonny Greenwood), 그리고 재즈 그룹 선즈 오브 케밋(Sons Of Kemet)의 드러머 톰 스키너(Tom Skinner)로 구성된 프로젝트 그룹, 더 스마일(The Smile)이 데뷔 앨범 [A Light For Attracting Attention]을 공식 발표했다. 앨범은 영국 엑셀 레코딩스(XL Recordings)를 통해 오는 2022년 5월 13일 디지털 공개를 앞두고 있다. 총 13곡이 수록된 앨범은 라디오헤드의 오랜 작업자인 나이젤 고드리치(Nigel Godrich)가 프로듀싱과 믹스를, 엔지니어 밥 루드윅(Bob Ludwig / Led Zeppelin, Queen, Nirvana 등)이 마스터링을 맡았다. 또한 런던 컨템포러리 오케스트라(London Contemporary Orchestra)을 비롯해 바이런 월렌(Byron Wallen / 트럼펫), 테온 크로스 (Theon Cross / 튜바), 나대니얼 크로스 (Nathaniel Cross / 트럼본), 첼시 카마이클 (Chelsea Carmichael / 색소폰), 로버트 스틸먼 (Robert Stillman / 색소폰), 제이슨 야르데 (Jason Yarde / 색소폰) 등 많은 영국 재즈 뮤지션들이 피처링으로 참여했다. 앨범 디자인은 역시 라디오헤드의 오랜 디자이너 스탠리 돈우드(Stanley Donwood)의 작품이다. 더 스마일은 지난 2021년 영국 글래스톤 베리에 스페셜 게스트로 깜짝 등장하여 팬들을 놀라게 했고 지난 1월 말, 앨범 발매 없이 진행된 단독 콘서트를 매진시키는 등의 화제를 낳았다. 첫 싱글 'You Will Never Work In Television Again'을 시작으로 "The Smoke", "Skrting on the Surface", 2021년 톰 요크가 솔로 무대에서 최초로 공개하며 팬데믹 시대의 동료 뮤지션들에게 헌정하는 곡 "Free In The Knowledge", BBC 드라마 [피키 블라인더스 (Peaky Blinders)]의 마지막 시즌에 삽입된 "Pana-vision" 등이 연이어 공개되며 이들의 데뷔 앨범에 대한 기대도 더욱 커지고 있다. 더 스마일은 지난 1월, 런던에서 3회의 단독 공연을 매진시켰으며 이 공연은 동시에 전세계 관객들에게 생중계되기도 했다. 앨범 발표에 이어 이들은 5월 16일 크로아티아를 시작으로 영국을 거쳐 7월 20일 이탈리아 시칠리까지의 단독 공연을 준비 중이다. 또한 7월 네덜란드의 다운 더 래빗 홀(Down The Rabbit Hole festival), 스위스의 몽트뢰 재즈 페스티벌 (Montreux Jazz Festival)에도 참여한다. 더 스마일(The Smile)의 데뷔 앨범 [A Light For Attracting Attention]은 영국 엑셀 레코딩스(XL Recordings)를 통해 오는 2022년 5월 13일 디지털 앨범이, 6월 17일 피지컬 앨범이 발매된다. ※ 명확한 재생불량 외 경미한 커버 구겨짐이나 재생에 지장이 없는 미세한 스크레치로 인한 사유는 교환 반품 대상이 아님을 알려드립니다.
