01. 춤추는 인생 02. 붉은 입술 03. 부초같은 인생 04. 용두산 에레지 05. 일편단심 06. 빙빙빙 07. 우지마라 08. 터미널 09. 당신이 좋아 10. 시계바늘 11. 춤추는 인생 (MR) 창원대학교 무용학과 정유영 교수. 발레를 전공하고 국립발레단원으로 활발한 활동까지 했고, 국립 창원대학교에 무용학과를 만든 주인공이다. 그런 그가 새로운 분야에 도전했다. 트로트 앨범을 내고 본격적인 가수 활동을 준비하고 있다. 국립대학 교수로는 처음이다. 정유영 교수는 21일 자신의 첫 트로트 음반 ‘춤추는 인생’을 발표했다. 타이틀곡 ‘춤추는 인생’은 가수 설운도씨가 정 교수를 위해 직접 작사·작곡을 하고 프로듀싱(음반제작)까지 맡은 곡이다. 트로트 음반 ‘춤추는 인생’을 낸 창원대 무용학과 정유영 교수. 정 교수는 어릴 때부터 음악을 좋아하는 집안 분위기 속에서 성장해 자연스레 리듬감이 뛰어났고, 권위 있는 국내 무용제 및 무용콩쿠르에 출전해 안무상을 수상하기도 했다. 초등학교 시절 이미자씨의 히트곡을 일본어로 부른 앨범을 듣고 우리말로 가사를 외웠다가 소풍 때 불러서 큰 인기를 끌었다. 그는 어려서부터 노래를 잘한다는 칭찬을 곧잘 들었다. 가수 뺨치는 노래실력을 가진 어머니의 피를 이어받은 셈이다. 노래를 좋아하고 잘 부르던 어머니의 영향으로 자연스레 유행가를 따라불렀고, 외가의 면대항 노래자랑에 나가 솥단지를 상품으로 받기도 했다. 초등학교 시절 연합 체육대회 학교별 노래자랑에서는 2년 연속 대상을 타기도 했다. 노래를 좋아했지만 취미로 하는 데 그쳤다. 하지만 노래방 문화가 급속도로 퍼지면서 동료들과 즐겨 노래방을 찾았고 가수가 되려는 꿈을 포기하지 않았다. 그의 전공은 무용이다. 국립발레단에서 활동한 실력있는 정통파 무용가다. 지난 1989년 창원대학교 체육학과 교수로 임용됐고 1995년 무용학과를 만들어, 1호 교수로 임용되면서 지금까지 국립대학 무용학과 교수로 활발한 활동을 하고 있다. 그가 지도하는 창원대 무용학과 학생들과 정유영공연예술단은 경남뿐만 아니라 전국 각지의 행사에 초청받을 정도로 실력을 인정받고 있다. 그동안 강원도민체전 개막 공연, 경기도민체전 개막 공연에 출연했으며, 진주에서 개최된 제48회 경남도민체전을 비롯해 울산에서 열린 국제양궁선수권대회, 부산에서 열렸던 국제공수도대회 개막식, 경기도 생활체전 등의 개막공연을 치렀다. 정 교수의 트레이드마크는 ‘북의 대합주’와 매스게임, 카드섹션 등 규모가 크고 화려한 공연이다. 해외공연도 수없이 많이 했다. 미국과 캐나다 등 북미대륙은 물론이고 유럽과 아시아 상당수 지역에서 수많은 공연을 했다. 미국 남부 순회공연 때는 1부에서 춤, 2부에서는 노래 공연을 펼쳤고, 조윤수 총영사 등 교포와 미국인들의 극찬을 받기도 했다. 그가 정식 앨범을 내고 본격적인 가수로 데뷔한 것은 우연한 기회에 찾아왔다. 미국 공연 때 트로트 가수 우연이를 만났고, 그녀의 곡을 설운도씨가 작곡한 것을 알게 되었다. 여기저기 알아보니 설운도씨의 히트곡이 모두 스스로 만든 곡이라는 것도 알게 되었다. 이후 무작정 설운도씨를 찾아나섰고, 결국 설운도씨가 운영하는 기획사인 월드사운드까지 찾아갔다. 그때가 지난해 8월이었다. 아이돌뿐 아니라 성인가수도 오디션을 본다. 국립대 교수로, 안무가로, 행사 기획자로 사회적 지위와 명성을 쌓았지만 그녀는 오디션에 참가해 최선을 다했다. 설운도씨를 만나 자신의 인생과 이력을 얘기하자 설운도씨가 그녀의 인생을 담은 곡 ‘춤추는 인생’을 직접 작사·작곡해줬다. 설운도씨를 만난 지 3개월 만인 지난해 11월에 곡이 나왔고, 올해 3월에 음반을 녹음했다. 녹음 작업도 오래 걸리지 않았다. 그녀는 고도의 기교를 발휘하는 노래를 하지 않는다. 그녀의 인생이자 특기인 춤, 퍼포먼스와 합쳐지면서 ‘춤추는 인생’을 주목받고 싶을 뿐이다. 정 교수는 정식 앨범이 발매되기도 전에 이미 설운도씨의 공연 안무를 총괄하면서 비공식적으로 무대에 올라 ‘춤추는 인생’을 선보이기도 했다. 반응은 폭발적이었다. 설운도씨는 그녀의 성공을 의심치 않고 격려를 아끼지 않았다고 한다. 국내 최대 음반 전문유통회사인 새샘음반이 그녀의 데뷔앨범 유통을 맡을 정도로 가능성을 인정받고 있다. 새샘음반은 다음 주부터 전국 고속도로 휴게소를 비롯, 국내 음반판매업소에 ‘춤추는 인생’ CD를 공급할 예정이다. 정 교수는 “사실 설운도씨에게 곡을 받기 전에 여러 작곡가들로부터 곡을 많이 받았지만, ‘내 노래’다 싶은 것을 찾지 못했다”며 “설운도씨가 나를 위해 만들어준 곡이라 의미가 깊고, 들어본 이들이 좋은 반응을 보여줘 개인적으로 기대하는 바가 크다”고 말했다. 정 교수는 기회가 된다면 자신의 고향인 창원에서 설운도씨와 함께 콘서트를 열 계획을 갖고 있다고 덧붙였다 |
